This letter is a profound and deeply encouraging message for any writer struggling with self-doubt, discipline, and the emotional weight of creative work. It beautifully captures both the struggles and the triumphs of writing—the vulnerability, the resistance, and the transformative clarity that emerges through perseverance. I especially love the closing lines:

"Writing is both grueling and glorious, punishing yet infinitely rewarding… In giving your stories to the world, you will receive more than you ever imagined."

That captures the essence of why writers keep going, despite the difficulty.

You are such a gem, Uncle Matt.

Lost for words, I am wondering where to begin from.

This article has extremely found me at a time I need it the most.

The time when perfecting my writing skills mean so much to me.

Thanks for sharing such wisdom worth more than a million dollars and a writing college degree.

I am not sure whether mere words can fully express my sincerest gratitude to you for sending such a masterpiece to help the struggling writing community.

Indeed, I can attest. Consistency will always beat mere talent.

Thanks, Uncle Matt, for reminding me of that basic, too.

From today onwards, I promise to write with consistency.

I promise to read, read, and read, like you said Stephen King advised.

One who is not ready to read is not ready to write.

What a life-changing principle!

To summarize, God bless you so much, Uncle Matt.

With such an awesome article, you have donated to the world a thing so precious than mere gold and silver.

Thanks again.

Hi Matt,

“Rejection is a badge of honor. You're in the arena, taking risks, and growing.” That line stayed with me. It’s easy to forget that rejection isn’t failure—it’s proof of courage. Most never get that far.

Your advice is honest, and that’s why it matters. Writing is doubt, frustration, and bad drafts. Some days, nothing works. But as you said, *perfection is the enemy of done.* That one stays with me.

Grateful for the wisdom of your years, passed down to those still finding their way, and I'm looking forward to reading more from you.
